Hamlet Summary Acts I &II

       There is never a dull moment in Hamlet. Something is always happening whether we know it or not. During acts one and two there are many events that are essential to the plot. Starting with act one scene one four guards are stationed outside of the Elsinore castle in Denmark. As they are guarding they believe they see a ghost that resembles the late king/Hamlet's father.The ghost doesn't speak on why it is there so they make the decision to tell Hamlet about the ghost. In the next scene we learn that the new king is Hamlets uncle Claudius. He has taken over the thrown and married Hamlet's mother. Hamlet isn't very happy about this and can't believe his mom would do this to his father but he knows that speaking out on how he feels isn't going to help. As the act moves on Laertes is about to leave for France but he warns his sister about falling for Hamlet.
       Towards the end of act one Hamlet is introduced to ghost and even though his friend's discourage the idea Hamlet follows the ghost. Hamlet's conversation reveals that it is his father and Claudius murdered his own brother. Hamlet then wants vengeance on his uncle and explains to Horatio and Marcellus that he may act a bit off to do so. Continuing the play with the next Act we learn that Polonius is not very trusting of his son and sends Reynaldo to spy on Laertes. Ophelia explains to her father that Hamlet has gone crazy and Polonius concludes that Halmet is just crazy with love.
       In the last scene of the act Rosencrantz  and Guildenstern are hired to see whats going on with Hamlet. The main discussion of this scene is what is making Hamlet so crazy. After reading the letters from Hamlet to Ophelia the consensus is that Hamlet is lovesick. Hamlet makes an entrance and continues to act crazy. He discovers why Rosencrantz and Guilenstern have come to "visit" him. This scene is also the start of play within the play to reveal if Claudius truly did poison Hamlet's father.
